Boris Ovodenko, MD

Boris Ovodenko, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist with twelve years of experience in cataract surgery, including toric and multifocal implant technology, as well as comprehensive eye care.  Dr. Ovodenko graduated Summa Cum Laude in three years from Johns Hopkins University where he earned the distinction of being elected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

He attended the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn where he earned an M.D. degree, after which he completed an internship at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.   He then went on to The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary where he did a Glaucoma Research Fellowship under Robert Ritch, M.D., an international authority on glaucoma.  This was followed by an Ophthalmology residency at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary.  He pursued two years of additional training with Richard Mackool, Sr, M.D., one of the world’s foremost cataract surgeons.  He was the first resident physician in New York to implant Crystalens 5-0 to reduce dependence on glasses.  As a resident instructor for five years at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, he was dedicated to training the next generation of eye surgeons in the clinic and the operating room.  In addition, he finds the time to attend national meetings and has organized an advanced level cataract course presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology International Symposium.
